I will not elaborate further on the joke that has been the super sub. I wrote on it when it first surfaced which can be viewed here.
I am just glad that it is going according to reports. A Twenty20 world championship? Bring it on!

Everything does not work everywhere and the rule some how simply does not apply to cricket. It has also created a lot of avoidable confusion.

Agreed, super sub sucks, don’t know why we have to wait till March 21 to kick it out, why not right now? The ICC makes some strange decesions.

@ Hiren - I concur completely dude
@ Zainub - Ya.. I would love to see the rule scrapped and 11 men teams fielded for Windies vs New Zealand. Australia and England brought in super subs earlier so why not have the scrapping earlier too..

Why not just have a substitute feature whereby you can replace someone who’s not doing well with anyone on the bench at any point of the game, a la soccer / basketball / hockey etc etc…? Simple concept really, but the eggheads at ICC managed to muddle it up. To me, it seems as if a lot of players/coaches/captains just don’t want to think! They want the status quo - that’s surprising!

For me cricket is about 11 vs 11 (I am a traditionalist in that among many other senses). But you bring in an interesting point that the the captains/coaches just don’t want to think. They should be gunning for more flexibility.
