It is unrelated to RSA being underdogs. I wouldn’t call them underdogs any way in the 90s. They were a top quality team, even the best one day team for a while between 1996 and 1999.

I started following cricket in 1991. The re induction match of RSA at Eden was my first. Then I followed RSA in the 1992 world cup, followed the complete India in South Africa tour. I became attached to RSA. In cricketing terms I support RSA and India equally and it just happened in my initial years of cricket watching, not manufactured.

I hope I have been able to explain. :)

That’s interesting to know that you are a South African fan. Why? This is the first time I am coming across anyone who is a fan of South African Cricket team. I wouldn’t have mind supporting them when they were underdogs. Now they are no longer; also, SA and Australia - captain of both these men cricket team don’t show any sporting spirit, always trying to put other team down through mean-spirited comments.
