The NBA Playoffs Predictions
Ahead of the 2006 NBA Playoffs which begin today, the predictions are rolling thick and strong. Check out the Blogcritics and Marcellin Mutoni’s round 1 takes. Complete Sports has gone all the way and predicts a Detroit win:
This year, I think things may be tilted in Detroit’s favor. They’ve basically been resting for a while now, having locked up the East a while, they have home-court advantage, and their bench is better than it’s given credit for. And not to sound like a broken record, but their offense is better under Flip. Another thing is, I don’t think Rasheed Wallace will be leaving Big Shot Rob open for anymore late shots. PISTONS IN 7.
The Detroit Pistons have certainly moved from strength to strength after Brown moved on to coach the Knicks. Not many will predict any one except the Pistons or the Spurs to win the title. Can the Miami Heat or some other team tide over these two champion teams?
We will see.

Hey, thanks for the link. :)
Detroit certainly look like the favorites to me, they were on the cusp last year and are looking much better and efficient this year… I’d be very surprised if they didn’t take it all.

I am backing the Spurs to win despite being down 1-3 at the moment. In Detroit-Cavs, I really don’t know but am hoping Cavs win.

How about the Suns taking it all? Wouldn’t that be great for a team that has gutted it out so well without Amare & Kurt Thomas. This Phoenix team has some spirit guys! hats off…
Having said that, my money is on the Mavs to win this one in 6 and may be go all the way. As far as the East is concerned, Pat’s at work in Miami and I like his chances against the ever so nervous Flip Saunders (I love Flip though - having been a timberwolves fan for a good time now!)…
net net - here’s my take…
Pistons beat Cavs in 6 (yes they would win in Q - arena and Cavs aint beating them at the palace - no way)
Heat beats Pistons in 7 (at the palace, yes!)
Mavs beat the Suns in WC Finals
Mavs take it all - beating Miami in 6 (at the road, again! - I like the drams of road wins!)
Finals MVP - Diiiiiiiirk Nowitzki…!!!

It would be amazing if Nowitzki wins the finals MVP - such a good player. I doubt it though. ;) This has been one of the better playoffs of recent times already..!
