Rooney out: English Need French Inspiration

The brief statement from the Man U website reads:
He will be out for six weeks.
Well, told you it was brief! To spell it out, 6 weeks is 42 days. The World Cup is 40 days, 12 hours away. Also, 42 days will be an estimate. No one can say for sure how many exact days it will take. We can say, though, that it is a serious injury noticing the days given.
Also, if he is out for 42 days, how would he be able to just come pick up and play excellent football right from the word go.
In short, the England World Cup campaign is in serious crisis. Expect a lot of print space on the implications of the injury and how it is a terrible tragedy in the English press.
One important aspect is that Rooney might be able to play with some form recovery in the second round of the World Cup if the estimate of 42 days is close how things actually pan out.
Rooney has been impressive of late in the Premiership and his importance will be crucial for the English campaign in the second round. Without him, I do not see England doing too well as goals win football matches. However, it must be remembered that it is the defense which wins championships and tournaments.
Remember France in 1998? Zidance was Red carded in round 1. Without the play maker, they did manage to qualify for the second round with tough defense. England need to take inspiration from France.
I can see the English frowning and the French smirking already.

Its a team game and if teams start overly relying on individuals, you can be rest assured that the team isn’t going 2 do too well.

Some teams do tend to rely more on individuals. A potent striker lost is always quite a big blow. Great teams do perform even in adversity though.
1) Is the necessary basic talent there without Rooney
2) If it is, can the character shine through in adversity?
Interesting questions.

[…] There is drama for Ukraine too. Shevchenko is sidelined for 25 days at least. A huge blow for Ukraine who depend so much on him. It will be quite sad if he cannot play in the World Cup. I am hoping he will. First Rooney, and now Shevchenko. […]
