Football Commercials #10: Old Lions

This Carlsberg commercial doing the rounds in England brings back memories for a generation of English fans and is quite a favourite among many. I find it quite classy.

Can you identify the Old Lions?

  1. Nirav Says:

Well, the manager is Bobby Robson. I could recognize only a few others… The goalie is of course Peter Shilton. Then there’s Bobby Charlton who scores the last goal. The one who gets a yellow card is Sir Bobby’s brother. The guy on the bike and who scores the first goal is Beardsley. The one in no.7 shirt in the centre is Bryan Robson. I also know the guy who gets the phone call, but the name is just slipping out of my mind… whew!

  2. Matt Says:

Stuart Pearce is the guy getting the phonecall, the guy with the red and white sock at the start is Alan Ball, the guy drinking coffee is Peter Reid, the guy getting booked is Jackie Charlton….that’s all I can remember apart from the obvious ones.

Nirav, I hope we got most answers now!

I would be happy if I knew half the football Matt knows, so I cannot expect to know all the names if he doesn’t.

Also, thanks Matt for those names.
