ESPN-Star does it again

I have been critical of ESPN-Star in the past. I was gaining back my love for them because of excellent set of previews ahead of the English Premier League and the classy presenter John Dykes.

They disappoint me again. To a degree, it is understandable that you show cricket on ESPN, India being cricket mad. However, what is the logic of showing a delayed telecast of an ATP event over live premiership football (Sheffield Utd. vs Liverpool) on opening day of the season on Star Sports?

I just don’t get it.

I mean everything in espn-star these days is stupid.I mean i dont understand as to how they could beam the masters live in Hong-Kong but choose to show Rahul Dravid-The Wall.I am beginning to hate cricket these days and the sole reason is the overdose of cricket on espn-star.Give me a break, who wants to see the Adelaide Oval test match again. And the icing on the cake was including Sonjay Dutt(Mumbaiyya) in the Indian Legends segment on I-Day.Espn star have already lost out coverage rights for French and US.They have lost the C.League now.The cricket they cover is of the Bangladesh-Zim kind.Oh my god.I yearn for those days when Espn-Star were such pioneers in sporting broadcast.
Is there any way of letting them know that they are getting pathetic. To top it all ,the Tv timings in Espn-Star website is pure trash.I mean, how can i find out as to when they are going to beam the delayed telecast of Atp-Masters?Espn-Star plz dont go the DD sports way.Indian sports lovers need you.

If you guys have a good broadband connection, dowload TVUPlayer and see the matches live on ESPN Asia. Since I’ve been here in USA, that’s been my connection to football matches. I need to wake up on a Sunday at 6:30am to watch ManUtd play. :) Hope they play well trow - then it would be worth it.

Srinath: They showed Sonjay Dutt in Indian legends? Haha! Also, I didn’t know that they have lost the Champions League. Who has it’s broadcasting rights now? Also, I am tired of millions of times the Adelaide test has been broadcasted.

Maverick, I will keep that in mind when I am in Calcutta. Thanks.. I would wake up any time if I had to watch Barca play as well.. :)

Ten Sports now holds the right to telecasting CL for the next 3 years man.Really sad state of affairs with regards to ESPN Star.

ESPN Star are losing out on everything. They will really need to turn things around soon.

yes, their obsession with cricket (like ours) is absolutely crazy. And they had to go get that Bhogle chap for the WC coverage. His attempts at drawing parallels between cricket and football every time drove me bloody mad.

Ten Sports is catching on pretty well I would imagine..

  8. Srinath Says:

I will never forget Harsha’s remark on Torsten Frings goal this WC.”This one swung in like a delivery from Wasim Akram”.Oh god give us a break.

  9. Pratyush Says:

Haha I didn’t watch that remark on tv so thanks.
