Another Real disaster

January 9th, 2007

Real have had two manager changes in two years. After stumbling form, Capello is facing the pressure. While Real started off the season quite promisingly, it has all fallen in the past few games.

What ails Real? It is simple to point out attitude, lack of committment, superstars does not essentially mean a great team and millions of other things. However, if some one can actually reverse the Real situation, he would make a lot of money. So to actually solve the problems is a different ball game altogether.

Even as a Barcelona fan, it was sad to see Real stumble in their last encounter - against Deportivo. Now Deportivo is no world beater - they have been struggling this season and have conceded almost the double the number of goals they have scored. However, against Real Madrid, they looked like world beaters. Real kept giving away the ball and the defense was woeful. In the second goal Deportivo scored for instance, Cannavaro had the chance to clear the Deportivo attack twice. Deportivo could have have scored 3,4 or even 5 goals in the game. It was that poor a performance from Real.

The Spanish League needs a strong Real Madrid side. It means a strong competition with Barcelona which can attract so many people to the Spanish game. I am not that sure that a Real Madrid revival will happen quickly and I am not sure changes in managers which mean changes to the situation as the problem is much deeper. It needs to be addressed at so many levels right now. However, with the correct approach, I am sure that eventually, we can see a strong Real Madrid side. Again, I am not sure the fans or the media are that patient - another problem.

Bonano holds Barca

August 28th, 2005

In a big surprise, Barca failed to score versus newly promoted Alaves. I am worried. Barcelona is one side which showed last season it could score a lot of goals. Bonano, the former Barca player jept out of his skin to avoid Barcelona a win.

I hope this is just a hitch start and not a sign of things to come.

The la liga starts.. again

August 25th, 2005

After the joy of watching Barca play beautiful one touch football under Rijkaard, I cant wait for the first game on Saturday. Apart from the magic of Ronaldinho, I am looking forward to seeing Van Bommel in his first la liga match for Barca.

The first port of call for the Catalans will be Mendizorroza stadium, home of newly promoted Alaves and the league’s second smallest venue with a capacity of 19,000.

Madrid is looking more knit than last season with the likes of Baptista and Robinho. Can they pose a serious challenge? I certainly hope so as it would lead to a good battle as to who finally ends up the champions.

Also, I really hope Barca can win the Champions league this season and show every one what a great team they are.

A step back for Robinho?

July 29th, 2005

The Robinho deal with Real is looking on shaky grounds now. And now they have signed Baptista going one up on Arsenal.

So what does the future hold for one of the most talked about new Brazilian players? Brazil keeps producing amazing talent despite football being a world game and all the money and training being in Europe. At least the world should get a chance to know how good Robinho can be in Europe.

Meanwhile Real is still pretty sure Robinho will end up in Madrid. We have not heard the last of this.
